Empowering Youth Voices, Celebrating Community: 2023 Mosaic Event

With nearly 500 students from 17 West Michigan high schools in attendance, the 2023 Mosaic Event was a resounding success thanks to the invaluable participation of our teachers and students, presenters, sponsors, and volunteers.

The 2023 Mosaic Event celebrated the power of community and the profound impact of storytelling. We were honored to host distinguished speakers like Phillip Boutte Jr., Elizabeth Polk, Cass Taylor, and Carlos Rosas, plus special guests Aldis Hodge, Lohanne Cook, and Mariah Barrera, who shared their unique journeys and underscored the importance of authentic representation, seizing opportunities, and forging meaningful connections in the realm of career development.

Our hands-on workshops covered a range of career skills, from prototyping and design thinking to crafting compelling narratives and podcasting. It was a joy to see your students engage, learn, and grow through these interactive sessions.

A highlight each year is the Mosaic Mobile short film competition. The 2023 winning films are a testament to student’s potential and the power of their voices.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who made the 2023 Mosaic Event possible for our students. Your contributions have helped ignite a spark of creativity and ambition in the hearts of young storytellers across West Michigan. As we look ahead, we are excited to share new student opportunities in 2024. We invite you to stay connected with the Mosaic Film Experience as we continue to empower underrepresented youth to explore emerging and creative careers through the power of storytelling.
