2023 Mosaic Mobile Winning Films: Celebrating Tomorrow's Storytellers Today

Welcome to the vibrant world of Mosaic Mobile, our annual filmmaking contest revolutionizing student storytelling. High school students from across West Michigan unleashed their creativity by crafting 2- to 3-minute short films entirely on their mobile devices. This year, 45 films were submitted from 10 schools. As we celebrate the convergence of technology, creativity, and student voices, join us in applauding the 2023 winners who shared their unique stories.

Each year, we set the stage for creativity with a unique theme, prop, and saying. The criteria are intentionally left open-ended to encourage student's interpretation and creativity. This year's theme, "transformation," paired with the prop "bag(s)" and the saying "tell me more," have once again opened new avenues for storytelling.

By leveraging phones and tablets, Mosaic Mobile is leveling the content creation playing field and challenging the conventions of storytelling. Throughout the creative process, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills, which are skills that are critical in any career they pursue.

"Mosaic Mobile defies traditional storytelling norms and enables students to share their unique stories," said Skot Welch, Founder and President, Mosaic Film Experience. "While crafting films, students are honing career readiness skills that are pivotal not only in the realm of film and media but are also invaluable across various professions in today's digital age."

Winning students are celebrated at our annual Mosaic Event and share in the largest cash prize for student filmmakers in Michigan.
