NEWS RELEASE: Mobile film contest challenges students to share their unique stories
Spectrum Health and The Mosaic Film Experience announced the winners of the inaugural Spectrum Health Mosaic Mobile student film competition, a short film competition that challenged Michigan high school students to share their unique stories through films shot and edited entirely on mobile devices. The winning students will be recognized during a Mosaic Film Experience event in the fall. For the past five years, The Mosaic Film Experience has facilitated the mobile film competition. This is the first year an organization partnered with The Mosaic Film Experience to host its own unique Mosaic Mobile contest.“We are constantly looking for ways to be more innovative, so we are excited to partner with The Mosaic Film Experience,” said Ovell Barbee, diversity officer and senior vice president of human resources at Spectrum Health. “Creativity is a key skill for our community’s youth and our nearly 30,000 employees.”All Spectrum Health Mosaic Mobile films were required to be two to three minutes in length and meet three requirements. Entrants had to use “people first” as a theme, use “headphones”as a prop, and use the words “We hear you” within the film.“Mosaic Mobile content is about challenging the conventions of storytelling. With technology leveling the content creation playing field, the focus is now on how to use today’s tools to tell more original and diverse stories,” said Skot Welch, founder of The Mosaic Film Experience. “We look forward to continuing our annual Mosaic Mobile competition, while also teaming with more community partners, like Spectrum Health, to host Mosaic Mobile contests of their own.”
